The SDRS service provides a high-performance service that directly delivers the same infrastructure in another data center of the Open Telekom Cloud in the event of a data center failure or failure of individual components. This is done by synchronizing the data to this datacenter. In order to intercept the potential failure, an instance of the synchronized data will then be started.
With the DR-Drill function you can now test the "failover instance" that would come into play in the event of a data center failure. Accordingly, you can test and ensure that the failure of your production environment would not result in any downtime as your failover would properly be executed.
Therefore the DR Drill functionality creates snapshots of your "failover instance" in order to create a replication of the failover instance in a different VPC using the same specifications (server, disk type, etc.).
We strongly recommend the usage of this feature to regularly check and ensure the effectiveness of the SDRS service.
Further information about the functionality of the SDRS Service and especially the DR Drill function can be found within the documentation of the SDRS Service.
Important note: Please ensure that the subnet of the Drill VPC is same to subnet of the VPC for the protected group (production & failover instance).
