Using the SSL passthrough, data packets are sent to a server via an Elastic Load Balancer (ELB), without decrypting them.
Previously, SSL termination took place at the Load Balancer, with data packets being forwarded to a web server as a new SSL encryption. This did not enable end-to-end traffic relations, as the Load Balancer dispatch address, not the original IP address, was visible in the data packet. The SSL passthrough ensures that data remains encrypted while it is transmitted through the Load Balancer.
This function is now available for the enhanced ELB. To use this function, please contact our team of experts, stating your project & ELB ID. In the future, you will also be able to activate this function yourself.
