DDS offers Recycle Bin as emergency solution

In the past, when a database was deleted, all related backups were automatically deleted, as expected.

From now on, after deleting a Document Database instance, a single backup will be automatically triggered and is based on the current state before the deletion process started and the backup is then stored in the Recycle Bin. All backups will then be deleted.

The default value for trash is 7 days (maximum value) and can be adjusted down to 1 (minimum value).

Example:

1. User deletes a database

2. User confirms deletion from database

3. Backup of the status before the deletion process was carried out and ONLY the most recent status of the database content remains saved in the form of a backup.

4) After the backup has been successfully executed, the rebuild is activated as a link on the right-hand side and you can then restore the database at any time.

Important note: Retention period changes will be applied only to DB instances that are deleted after the changes.

Further information can be found in the Document Database Service (DDS) Help Center.
