The Cloud Backup & Recovery Service (CBR) supports now geo-redundant storage of backups. This functionality is called "Replication" as it replicates the existing backups into another region. For this the CBR service uses the Cross-Region-Replication feature of the Object storage service (OBS). The “replication” itself is a chargeable item and will be invoiced according as “OBS Cross Region Traffic Outbound”. Please even check our service description as well as the price-calcuator for more information about the costs related to the Cross-Region storage of CBR backups.
Please keep in mind that Object Storage Service stores the data redundantly in 3 Availability zones. With the usage of the replication and storage in 2 regions, the backups will be spread across a total of 4 physical datacenter locations as well as 6 availability zones.
We prepared a community blog that explains the configuration of the functionality step-by-step. In case of questions, please feel free to raise them underneath. Please feel free to even cross check our helpcenter or CBR Product Site for further explanations.
