Digital experts, courageous people, drivers of innovation: CAMAO is a full-thinking agency for services in the field of digital marketing. Nearly 90 employees take care of their customers' wishes in the european company – from web design and apps to every form of smart marketing tech solutions.

The basis of many web applications developed by CAMAO: the Open Telekom Cloud. Because since early 2020, the digital experts have been relying on Telekom's public cloud resources for hosting websites and online stores, or even for secure storage and smooth processing of sensitive data. "With the Open Telekom Cloud, we can offer our customers high performance, the best service, maximum flexibility and seamless security," explains Mariko Kumagai, Senior Concept Designer at CAMAO.

The flexible public cloud resources are a great advantage, especially for digital solutions such as websites. "The best possible performance of their products is crucial for customers," says Kumagai. Here, services such as the Distributed Cache Service help to reduce the loading times of a website.

In addition to sophisticated usability, reliable data protection and high data security from the Open Telekom Cloud play a particularly important role for CAMAO customers. "If personal data is recorded, processed and stored in the applications, 100 percent GDPR compliance is essential," says Kumagai. This is particularly important for digital processes with sensitive information from industries such as healthcare or the financial sector, he adds.

An additional advantage of the Open Telekom Cloud: high flexibility thanks to OpenStack. "The open technological basis gives our customers freedom to choose their cloud provider," says Kahnt. This is because the widespread use of OpenStack prevents vendor lock-in. "That is how we protect our customers from possible dependencies."

The Open Telekom Cloud also benefits CAMAO and its customers when it comes to putting together suitable products and services. Cloud-based hosting requires network, storage, computing and backup services. "The more complex the software application, the greater the amount of cloud services required," Kumagai said. Here, CAMAO accesses the Elastic Cloud Server, e.g., for on-demand use of server capacity. "For example, if access to a campaign's landing page jumps tenfold, IT resources can be easily adjusted within minutes. Our customers' site thus remains stable across every scenario," says Kumagai.

The Relational Database Service or the Object Storage Service as well as the Elastic Volume Service for storing and processing large amounts of data are also foundations for the CAMAO applications. "In addition, criteria such as high availability and the operation of specialized software can be easily mapped in the cloud," says Kahnt.

The digital agency took on its biggest cloud-based project to date in spring 2022: the relaunch of the Open Telekom Cloud website. For this, the team migrated the entire website from one content management system to another within three months. The goal was to improve user-friendliness as well as development speed. In the first step, CAMAO implemented the new CMS in the Open Telekom Cloud. The team then redesigned the entire website.
