Oracle-optimized is a planned service of the Open Telekom Cloud and is specifically designed to optimize the use of Oracle™ databases in the cloud. The service is based on the integration of Oracle Private Cloud Appliance™ devices that are fully compatible with Oracle™ Cloud Infrastructure. This enables companies to run their applications with improved scalability, performance and availability.

With Oracle-optimized, workloads can be flexibly moved between private and public clouds without compromising availability or performance. The solution is ideal for databases and middleware, enabling an efficient expansion of the number of cores in a multi-rack configuration. It also offers a significant reduction in license costs by requiring only one Oracle license for every 4 vCPUs. This allows organizations to deploy powerful applications while maintaining a tight cost control. Please note that users of Oracle-optimized are responsible for the licences (BYOL).

When deploying DB instances, they can be spread across two Availability Zones (AZs), but only one copy is stored in ZFS storage. Customers are responsible for ensuring High-Availability and performing all necessary database backups on OBS.
