Firewall as a Service (FWaaS)

If a company offers services online (via Elastic IP), these have to be protected in a variety of ways. Firewalls are basic security functions that continuously check incoming and outgoing data traffic, filtering out unauthorized requests from incoming traffic and preventing protected data from being distributed. In order to work effectively, rules must first be defined for the firewall. Once it has been activated, the firewall offers an array of functions such as protecting online shops, monitoring network traffic, granting secured access to administrators and blocking unused ports (thus closing potential security loopholes for hacker attacks).

With Firewall as a Service (FWaaS), the Open Telekom Cloud enables an additional software firewall level to be set up between the VPC router and the respective subnets. A specific firewall with specific rules can be configured for each subnet. The rules for incoming and outgoing traffic can be altered at any time. In default mode, a firewall initially blocks all traffic until rules have been defined. Firewall as a Service also offers a blacklist and whitelist function. The service is free of charge.
