What's new with the Open Telekom Cloud 2024? What plans do customers and partners have? With the 2024 Kickoff in Hamburg, the Open Telekom Cloud Team once again created a forum where users and providers could intensively exchange ideas on February 21st.

Off to Hamburg

The Open Telekom Cloud team traveled north for the kick-off. After FC Bayern's Allianz Arena was the venue for the major partner and customer event in 2023, the stadium of FC St. Pauli's Kiezkicker opened its doors at Millerntor in 2024. Pure St. Pauli feeling for the event, which was also felt by the participants.

Hendrik Lahme, Chapter Head of Open Telekom Cloud Service & Customer Success Management summarized: "Our customers and partners were delighted with the format and the location". The breakout sessions, in which the Open Telekom Cloud and its partners demonstrated realistic deployment options, were praised in particular.

Highlights – News 2024

On its eighth birthday, the Open Telekom Cloud presented itself with a new brand image: less "cloud" and more T-focus. What remains is proven quality: for the fifth time in a row, it was ranked as the leading European cloud by independent analysts. At the same time, the Open Telekom Cloud is expanding its "trophy cabinet" – basic IT protection certification is currently in full swing and will be completed during the course of the year.

Oracle PCA will be added to the Open Telekom Cloud range in the middle of the year. PCA allows users of Oracle databases who do not want or cannot switch to an alternative to quickly migrate to the cloud. Oracle licenses are used via an Open Telekom Cloud contract, which saves up to 60 percent compared to conventional operating models.

Interactive stadium tour

The focus of the event was an interactive stadium tour for the more than 200 participants. This gave them the opportunity not only to discover a soccer stadium from several unfamiliar angles, but also to find out what is currently happening at the Open Telekom Cloud at six stations.

  • In the "Congstar Lounge", participants were able to warm up and learn more about the current sustainability initiatives of the Open Telekom Cloud.
  • The "Current AI Studio" showed various applications for artificial intelligence on the Open Telekom Cloud.
  • In the "Mixed Zone", participants were able to talk to migration and managed services partners. Customers reported on their experiences of switching to the Open Telekom Cloud.
  • "Special Block A" was all about FinOps. Experts reported on how customers can use the Open Telekom Cloud in the most cost-effective way.
  • In "Welcome Zones 3 & 4", partners of the Open Telekom Cloud presented their solutions.
  • The tour ended in the team cabin of FC St. Pauli - without any players, but with smart soccer instead.

Next guest appearance in Düsseldorf

Anyone who missed the away game at the Millerntor can experience Open Telekom the next time at the Summit of the partner d.velop from June 11 to 13 in Düsseldorf. Not in the stadium, however, but in the industrial-style Areal Böhler. Customers and partners as well as interested parties are expected to attend.
