Telekom at the OpenStack Summit in Berlin

The who's who of the open source cloud community will gather in Berlin in mid-November. Up to 3,000 visitors are expected at the OpenStack Summit, where they will spend the three days from November 13 to 15 exchanging views on the open cloud architecture. As previously at such events, headline sponsor Deutsche Telekom will be present with its own stand, keynotes, workshops and an after-hours event.

Complex AI artist from the cloud

For the Bonn-based provider, the event is all about its public cloud offering based on OpenStack – the Open Telekom Cloud. At its stand in Berlin's CityCube, Telekom will be demonstrating the performance of the IT resources from its multiple-certified data centers in Biere near Magdeburg with the help of a live demo: An image processing application will transform photos of trade fair visitors into paintings by famous artists such as Picasso, Monet and Rembrandt. "Processing image data is one of the most complex applications available," says Anthony Clarke, Chief Technologist, Deutsche Telekom. "That's why our artistic AI is the perfect way to demonstrate the potential of our Open Telekom Cloud to the trade fair visitors.”

At the stand: IT security, data protection and reliability of the cloud

Telekom's presence at the trade fair will also focus on the issues of IT security, data privacy and reliability. The provider will dedicate a separate area to each topic at its stand. "It’s not for nothing that our Open Telekom Cloud based on OpenStack is considered the safest alternative to US hyperscalers," says Anthony Clarke. “And with our thematic focus on the issue of reliability, we would like to underscore once again that we continue to feel a long-term and sustainable connection to the community – both now and in the future.”

From workshops to pub crawls: Socializing with the OpenStack community

In addition to the trade show stand, Telekom representatives will also be present with keynote speeches and workshop contributions during the three-day event. And for those who feel the trade fair, keynotes and workshops don’t provide enough opportunities to network with like-minded people, a special event is planned for the evening of November 14: For the first time, Deutsche Telekom and other sponsors are organizing a pub crawl as part of an OpenStack Summit, including discounted drinks, which should lead to professional discussions in a relaxed atmosphere. The organizers are expecting around 1,000 participants, who will be spread out across almost 25 Berlin bars.
