OpenStack platform upgrade to Mitaka

Open Telekom Cloud will upgrade from the Juno to the Mitaka release – another significant milestone to further improve the stability and performance of the OpenStack platform for you. The Open Telekom Cloud team will implement this major upgrade on December 18th between 1:00 and 4:45 am (CET). We will do so with the utmost accuracy and the highest management attention. Unfortunately, such a major upgrade will cause some service interruptions, since we need to shut down all resources in availability zone 2. The web interface, API, and virtual resources will not be available several times for some minutes. During the maintenance window on December 18th, only resources and services running in availability zone 2 (EU-DE-02), Magdeburg will be affected by this upgrade.

OpenStack platform upgrade to Mitaka

If you already set up your application cloud native or redundant (across both availability zones) only minor performance decreases might occur. If you did not set up your services redundantly, we recommend to shut them down in a controlled manner before December 18th 1:00 am (CET). After the upgrade, restart the services and check, if they run properly. 

Mid of January, we will introduce the Mitaka upgrade to availability zone 1 (EU-DE-01), Biere. 
We will keep you informed about the exact date. 

The impact and advantage of this major upgrade: With Mitaka we are enabling so called plugs, which give us the opportunity to do further changes/upgrades seamlessly and without any major service disruptions. Furthermore, Mitaka is providing a higher performance, scalability and stability to huge IT landscapes running on the Open Telekom Cloud.
