OpenStack Summit in Boston

by Editorial team

Twice a year, the who's who of the Open Source world come together. The next big event is the OpenStack Summit in Boston, starting on May 8th, and it is sure to be exciting.

The community didn’t always have it easy: "When we started with OpenStack a few years ago, it was still very complicated and it took a long time for companies to see the value added," said Heidi Bretz, Director Business Development at the OpenStack Foundation at this year's CeBIT. However, this has changed quickly, as the list of participants for the OpenStack Summit clearly show. The 2017 Summit will take place in the US state of Massachusetts as of May 8th.

T-Systems OpenStack experts at the summit on site

From Google to eBay and Intel, Harvard University to the US Army - all of these organisations are sending speakers to the Open Source event. Together, participants from more than 1,000 companies from 60 different nations will discuss the latest developments in the popular, open cloud standard OpenStack.

T-Systems is a Gold-Partner of the community and one of four main sponsors of the event, which will last four days. With the Open Telekom Cloud, this provider from Bonn also offers Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) with the open source code, making it one of the largest OpenStack offerings in Europe. It almost goes without saying that this big name in cloud providers will also be represented with numerous speakers at the conference in Boston. "Our open system is one of the most important alternatives to proprietary providers," said Kurt Garloff, an Open Telekom Cloud architect and one of the Boston speakers. Throughout the course of the summit, there will be a total of eight lectures on the open cloud standard OpenStack by T-Systems.
